Explore My WorkAt just 18, Vivek H. Sutar has emerged as one of India’s youngest and most distinctive voices at the nexus of artificial intelligence, global trends, and public policy.
His debut Marathi book, Umbartha… Nava Yug Suru Hotay (Threshold… A New Era Begins), represents a seminal contribution within India. It is among the first serious works to explore AI, Industry 5.0, and the governance of technological disruption, and stands as one of the first Indian contributions dedicated to Industry 5.0. His decision to write in Marathi is a deliberate challenge to the prevailing global monoculture, which assumes the future must be designed in Silicon Valley and articulated in English. By publishing in a language spoken by a population larger than many nations, Vivek underscores the necessity of democratizing technological discourse.
In addition to his book, Vivek is a regular contributor of op-eds in leading Marathi newspapers including Sakaal, Lokmat, and Punyanagari. Through these essays, he introduces global debates on AI, Industry 5.0, and governance to a wide regional readership, making complex technological and policy themes accessible to millions.
Vivek’s intellectual journey combines Indian grassroots depth with global academic exposure, including Harvard, equipping him to analyze the technological, economic, and governance shifts shaping the 21st century.
His writing is characterized by its synthesis of technical depth, philosophical inquiry, and socio-political vision. His essays confront frontier themes, including causal intelligence in AI, quantum-based computing, algorithmic creativity and ethics, AI and democracy, the global governance of emerging technologies, and the cultural-psychological dimensions of human–machine coexistence.
Recognized for his intellectual maturity beyond his years, Vivek has received several honors, most notably as the inaugural recipient of the Rajarshi Shahu Yuva Gaurav Award in Kolhapur. This accolade aligns his work with the progressive reformist legacy of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, revered for advancing equality and education.
Vivek contributes to public policy initiatives in collaboration with Raje Shri Samarjeetsinh Ghatge, Chairman of the Shahu Group and a direct descendant of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj.
Beyond his technological focus, Vivek has demonstrated a profound commitment to public service as the founder and president of Vatsala Mahila Sanstha. His flagship initiative, HealthForHer, is a large-scale project tackling women’s cancer across 1,227 villages in Kolhapur district, potentially impacting over three million women. The program provides awareness, education, and free screenings, and has led to direct discussions with Maharashtra’s Cabinet Health Minister, Shri Prakash Abitkar, to expand the initiative statewide and advocate for HPV vaccination.
As an emerging public intellectual, Vivek embodies a rare fusion of on-the-ground activism, rigorous scholarship, and high-level policy engagement. He seeks to contribute a crucial Global South perspective to platforms such as the Y20 and WEF, articulating how societies can navigate the AI revolution while ensuring that human dignity, equality, and cultural diversity remain central to the governance of the global technological order.
