About Me
Vivek H. Sutar is an Indian writer, AI policy researcher, and social entrepreneur whose work explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, technological change, public policy, and society.
He is the author of the Marathi book Umbartha... Nava Yug Suru Hotay (Threshold... A New Era Begins), which examines artificial intelligence, Industry 5.0, and the governance of emerging technologies for a regional-language audience. By choosing to write in Marathi, Vivek seeks to broaden public engagement with technological change and make discussions on AI and the future of work accessible beyond English-speaking circles.
In addition to his book(s), Vivek is a regular contributor of op-eds to leading Marathi newspapers, including Sakaal, Lokmat, and Loksatta. His writing introduces regional audiences to global developments in artificial intelligence, technology policy, economic transformation, and governance.
His research interests include AI governance, frontier AI, Industry 5.0, emerging technologies, digital public policy, and the social, cultural, and philosophical implications of intelligent systems. His work examines how technological progress intersects with democracy, economic development, ethics, and the future of human societies, with particular attention to perspectives from the Global South.
Vivek's academic journey combines grassroots public engagement in India with international academic experience, including Harvard University. His academic engagements include the Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) and BlueDot Impact.
Alongside his research, Vivek is the Founder and President of Vatsala Mahila Sanstha, a nonprofit organization focused on public health and community development. Through its flagship initiative, HealthForHer, he has led women's cancer awareness, education, and screening efforts across villages in Maharashtra while advocating for broader access to preventive healthcare, including HPV vaccination.
His work has been recognized with several honors, including the inaugural Rajarshi Shahu Yuva Gaurav Award, presented in recognition of his contributions to technology, public discourse, and social impact. He also contributes to public policy initiatives in collaboration with Raje Shri Samarjeetsinh Ghatge, Chairman of the Shahu Group.
Through his writing, research, and public initiatives, Vivek seeks to help shape a future in which advances in artificial intelligence are accompanied by democratic governance, cultural diversity, and broad public participation.
